These kaleidoscopic images and videos begin with paint on canvas. In other words, the mandalas are digital transformations of my abstract paintings. Years of painting have given me a refined sense of color and design, and each work is carefully balanced in tone and hue. A photograph of the painting is then digitally manipulated into a kaleidoscope of shifting forms. The original balance of color and tone carries through, so the mandala remains a true extension of the painting. In the video versions, subtle distortions ripple outward, growing more fluid and dynamic the farther they move from the center.
