I am searching for order in chaos. I create the chaos, a few gestural expressions, and then step back and ask what is required to balance it. A series of questions and answers narrows the field until there are no more choices and the piece is finished.
The entire process is held apart from thought as much as possible maintaining an instinctive state common to the fully engaged. This state of flow is what makes the resulting artifact something more than the sum of decisions.
